I received this sample of Boscia Luminizing Black Mask in my Total Beauty Mystery Box earlier in the month and I have been really interested in trying it out. When I first saw, "black mask" I was very confused. I had a lot of questions about it, like did it really go on black? The answer is yes, it really is a black mask. I always use face masks on Sunday afternoons because I like to get my skin fresh and ready for the upcoming week.

Here's the description that I got off of Amazon.com, "A groundbreaking, mineral-rich mask that peels off to deliver powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening effects. This jet-black, mineral-rich mask creates a unique peel-off effect that delivers powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening results. Made with a premier-quality clay, its deep-cleansing properties draw out dirt and oil. Other natural ingredients go to work exfoliating skin and refining pores. Powerful antioxidants shrink pores, firm skin, and reduce inflammation. Once dried, the mask strips away dead skin, impurities and excess oil to reveal immediate and visible results. It is formulated Without: - Parabens- Sulfates- Synthetic Fragrances- Synthetic Dyes- Petrochemicals- Phthalates- GMOs- Triclosan Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin. Avoid eyebrows, hairline and lips. Avoid eye area by applying below orbital bone. Leave on 15-20 minutes or until completely dry. Gently peel off mask from outer edges. Rinse off any residue with warm water. Follow with moisturizer. Use once or twice a week."

When I squeezed it out of the tube, it came out really thick. At first I was afraid that I didn't have enough to cover my face but there was more than enough. I've never used a product like this before so I don't really have anything to compare it to. It was very thick and very black.

I thought about not putting this picture up because the mask makes me look extremely creepy LOL. It looks like I'm about to rob a bank. But I figured that if I wanted it to be a really good review, then I should probably show everything about the product. As you can see, it is a really thick mask because it went on very dark. After 20 minutes, I started to peel it off when it was dry. For the most part, the mask came off all in one piece. There were some leave-behinds around the outside of my face where the mask wasn't applied as thick. It was pretty easy to peel off but it was a tad bit painful. I just washed the leave-behinds off with some warm water. It felt like I was peeling off tape from my face, not really painful but it did hurt a little.

I really liked how smooth it made my skin feel afterwards. It didn't dry out my skin and it took off all the oils on my face too. I didn't like how creepy it made me look though LOL.

Would I buy this product again? Probably. I use face masks a lot and this one worked really well. While the peeling part was a little painful, the outcome of it was still really good. My skin feels smooth and ready for the upcoming week.

  7. I haven't used a face mask in ages, but I remember having a mud mask once that was dark. Not as dark as this one though, as it almost looks like coal. Creepy, but glad to hear it's effective!

  11. I have always been turned off by peel-off masks because I have tried one too many that were either too harsh on my skin or too difficult to peel off. The Boscia Luminizing Black Mask sounds like one that I would love to try. Besides, I love Boscia! (;
