Cult Cosmetics Black Box July 2013 Review

Hey Everyone!

Click here to go to my giveaway for anything of your choice with a value of up to $60. There's only 4 days left to enter!

I was so excited to see my Cult Cosmetics Black Box sitting in my mailbox this afternoon!! I signed up for their box as soon as I found out about it because you can get 50% off of your first box. Usually, the box itself is $20 + $5 for shipping. Since it was my first box, I only paid $15 for everything. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this box, it is a monthly nail subscription box that includes at least 3 nail colors and at least one professional nail tool.

I paid: $15

This box comes with a nice little description card that tells you everything that you got. I've seen a couple of other reviews for the Black Box and it seems like every review I've seen people got different things. I was really happy to see that because I love getting surprises!

Value: $30

This bracelet alone is worth twice the amount that I paid for this entire box! I am so in love with this bracelet too. It is made out of banana fibers, polyester and acai seeds. I also saw this is a rainbow pattern on their website. I really like this agua color that I got though. I will definitely be wearing it during the summer! It's even durable.

Value: $3?

That is just my guesstimate. I saw a listing of 300 nail studs on Amazon for $4 but I know that there is not 300 studs in there and I know you can get nail glue pretty cheap too. $3 seems pretty reasonable to me too. I absolutely love these studs though! I've never decorated my nails with studs before so I should have some fun making some cool designs.

Value: $4.99

When I first saw the studs, I couldn't figure out how I was going to get them on my nails without messing them up. This is how I'm supposed to apply them. With very fine needle nose tweezers. Seeing these just makes me even more excited to create my own designs on my nails.

Value: $5.59

This color is from thier Spring 2013 collection. It's such a pretty blue! I'd wear it for a night to relax with my girlfriends.

Value: $5.10

This was from their Spring 2010 collection. While it may be from an older collection, I still love this color. It would be perfect to wear during a summer day. It's much prettier in person than it looks in my picture!

Value: $4.71

This color is from their Resort 2013 Collection. When I first saw this color, I couldn't decide if it was a bright red color or dark pink. What do you guys think? I still love it either way!

Total Value: $53.39

I am so happy that I found this box! I absolutely loved everything that I received in it. I'm not going to lie, I think that I even liked this box a lot better than Julep. It's a different variety and I can't wait to see what they send next month!

Do you subscribe to Cult Cosmetics Black Box? What did you think of it? Let me know if you blogged about your box too! I love seeing what other people got :)

  1. How did you get the Essie values? I know they are cheaper in the US but they cost $11 here plus tax which makes this box an insanely good value. I LOVE Essie! And I just ordered my discount box so I'm excited to check it out. It's great you got 2 colours from 2013 collections and that bracelet is really cool. Great box, can't wait for mine to arrive!

    1. I always look for the values of my products on Amazon.com. I know that Essie polishes are $8 regularly in stores but I can always find them cheaper on Amazon! Sometimes I can't find products on Amazon (like the bracelet) so I just look around online. If you click the link below the picture it takes you to where I got my "value" from!

  12. Looks like a great box. It's tempting, but I have too much nail polish already. Otherwise I'd jump all over it.

  13. I got the same colors as you, but my additional stuff was a Mash nail art pen in black (just like the Sally Hansen ones - already had one), two cheap sponge makeup applicators (like the ones you buy in bulk), and a tiny container of silver glitter. Honestly, I was a little let down. It felt like inexpensive drug store supplies. I would have much rather gotten the studs, tweezers, and bracelet. Those are things people might not necessarily already have!
I also felt the two pinks were a bit too similar to get in the same box - they're even both listed in the "Corals" section of the Essie website. I would have liked a bit more variety.
I really wanted to like this box because of the bonus tools - I want to try out fun nail designs! But, after getting tools I didn't need, I decided it would be cheaper to just get the tools I actually want from Amazon than wait for them in this box.

    1. I thought that the 2 colors were really similar too. I really liked the box but they do send out different things sometimes. I thought the 1/2 price first box was totally worth it though!

    2. Yeah, I definitely agree with you on the price. I'm glad I could try it at half price. Really, if they kept it at $15, I'd probably keep it. That way, even if the tools are a bit of a bust one month, I wouldn't mind so much.
