WhimseyBox Review July 2013 + Receive $5 off your first box!

I have a weird story behind this review. I ordered WhimseyBox back in April and I completely forgot that I had paid for it. Well I was looking through my e-mails the other day and I saw this confirmation letter from Whimsey on April 2nd. It's the middle of July and I still hadn't received one box from them. Of course I e-mailed them and asked what was up with that. I knew the card that I had paid with expired at the end of April and apparently that was the reason why I hadn't received my box. I had paid for the April box but I never received it. I'm still not 100% sure why they hadn't shipped the box to me even though I paid for it. Anyways, they got it all fixed for me and I'm getting the box that I paid for in April, in July. I'm not upset about it or anything, I'm just glad that I caught it.

With that story, I finally received my first WhimseyBox! For those of you who are not familiar with Whimsey, it is a subscription box for all of you craft lovers out there. Their motto is, "Stop Pining, Start Making!" They send you craft ideas every month and the materials to make them!

Cost: $15/month

If you use my referral link, you can get $5 off your first box! For all of my Canadian readers, WhimseyBox ships to you for an extra $5 shipping charge!

The craft idea for this month's box was a DIY Mini Memo Board. They sent all of the materials to make it so I will show you the quick version that I made at the end :) Another fun fact about Whimsey is that the box that the crafts come in is reusable. I'll probably put all of my extra craft material in the box.

I'm not going to price the items in this box because that would be really hard to do since a lot of the items don't even have a name on them. On the left of this picture, there is a notepad. It's a pretty thick pad too so it'll last me a long time. I'll probably make this into my grocery list pad. The box came with 2 stickers too, they both say "Stop pinning start making".

2 little pins came with it too. They would be cute to add to a backpack or something like that. The top of this picture has 3 wooden boards. The boards are supposed to be the back of the memo boards, they're perfect size for the notepad. I can decorate the boards any way that I want! If I get board of one design, I can make others.

Then there was some decorated tape and colorful rubber bands. The tape is to decorate the board and the rubber bands are supposed to hold up the note pad on the board. It's really hard to see the tape on the right but it is a silver color with stars on it. The pack of rubber bands comes in a lot of different sizes and colors. I really like the colorful tape. It's so fun!

This was the end result of my very quick memo board. It didn't take me very long to make because I wanted to show you all what it was supposed to look like. Like I said before, this will probably become my grocery list. I'm going to play around with the other boards and make an even better one!

I loved this box, I'm already planning on subscribing again and getting next month's box. I wish I could be creative like this all of the time, it's so much fun to see what craft they are going to send you!

  1. This is so much fun and a good deal at $15 I think. Thanks for sharing the Cdn shipping info! I'm so glad you caught it though, that's really weird they didn't send it anyway... I don't have many sub boxes but I still have to make sure I get them all. I love the colourful tape. Will be interested to see what you get next month!

    1. I think it's a pretty good deal too! This way I don't have to buy the products myself then have a bunch of leftovers sitting around my house.

  3. I actually have to disagree with the others and say I think 15 quid is waay too much for a bit of paper and some rubber bands! But I do like the idea behind it...might have to use your code to try it out!

  5. I've been eyeing this subscription for a while. I like the idea of it, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. I think this is on ebox where the money is in the fact that they give you the idea more than anything. Glad to hear they quickly fixed the box problem though.
